Address correction is utilized to reduce data entry errors and to help aid in the process of de-duping databases.
Corrected addresses are usually
standardized
before cross referencing the United States Postal Address Database. The address then goes through a series of checks and test to make sure it is a valid address on file.
An example address correction process would involve changing a street to East from West to match the exact address on file and appending ZIP+4 to result in a 9 digit zip code.
